Hatshepsut
Hatsheput was a pharaoh who ruled ancient Egypt from 1473 B.C. to 1458 B.C. in the 18th dynasty. She was the first lady pharaoh and ruled for over 20 years in total. Hatsheput came to power because her step-son (Thutmose III) was too young to take the throne. She was supposed to rule for Thutmose III until he was old enough to rule on his own. However, after several years, Hatsheput declared herself the pharaoh. heaps of people at that time did not agree that she should declare to be pharaoh since tradition is that only men rule. Yet she continued to rule more than 20 years. when she died her step-son Thutmose III ruled as pharaoh.
when she died lots of the statues that were built of her were destroyed because it reminded people of her ruling over Egypt.
